Take I-580 East toward the Central Valley. Continue on I-205 through Tracy.
Merge onto I-5 North for about a mile, and follow the signs to CA-120
East toward Sonora & Yosemite.
From the junction of I-5 and CA-120 East, it is 79 miles to the cabin.
Head East on CA-120 for a few miles, then get in the left lane to exit onto the loop
to CA-99 North. Merge onto
CA-99 North and go about 3/4 of a mile then exit right to CA-120 East toward Sonora.
Continue to follow the signs for CA-120 East toward Sonora & Yosemite.
From the junction of CA-99 and CA-120 East, it is 70 miles to the cabin.
After you leave Manteca, the famous Pie-Shop / Fruit Stand "Natures Corner" is on your
right before the stop light at Jack Tone Road (south-west corner of the intersection).
Once on 120 East, you will go through Escalaon, then Oakdale. When you
come into Oakdale, there will be a couple of traffic lights, then you will be
headed into a downtown area. The highway route will turn LEFT at a traffic
light in the downtown area. There are signs indicating this turn,
"108 and 120 East Sonora, Yosemite" and most
traffic will be going that direction. Highways 120 and 108 join at this
point. After the left turn, there are gas stations, food, stores etc.
There is a good (and clean) Tacqueria called El Agave behind the Valero station,
A&W, KFC complex on the left.
Oakdale is 50 miles from the cabin.
Continue out of town, East on 120/108. Rolling hills, cows, brown ... 24
miles East of Oakdale, Hwy 120 and 108 split. Hwy 120 veers off to the
right and goes toward Yosemite. You do NOT want to take that road ....
continue on Hwy 108 toward Sonora. You are 26 miles from the cabin.
Jamestown is next ... small historic town. There are a couple of good
restaurants here, a late 1800's operating railroad & museum etc.
Sonora is next. There is a new bypass around the town. Following the
highway and taking the bypass is the quickest way through. There will be a
shopping mall on your left with Mervyns, WalMart etc. Mono Way is the
"old" highway which runs parallel to the new bypass. If you need to stop,
take this exit and follow Mono Way to the east for gas stations, restaurants
etc. Otherwise, stay on 108 .... eventually the bypass ends and you will
come to a stop light. Follow the 108 signs toward Pinecrest and turn
RIGHT. In less than 1/4 mile, follow the 108 signs and turn LEFT. (This is
where the new bypass re-joins the old Hwy, which is now Mono Way).
Keep going straight - Hwy 108 East. At the light at Soulbysville Road, you
are 11 miles from the cabin, and you will start gaining elevation.
You will pass a couple of signs for Tawin Harte. Twain Harte is a couple
of miles off the highway to your left. You will pass through the towns of
Confidence, Sugar Pine, Mi-Wuk Village and Sierra Village. There are some
gas stations in the towns.
About a mile past Sierra Village, turn RIGHT onto WHEELER ROAD. (You will
be going down a hill, it will flatten out, and you will see the sign for Wheeler
Road.). If you pass the 5000 ft. elevation sign, or Long Barn, you went
too far.
After you turn on to Wheeler Road, you will come to the security gate.
Pull up to the little house. There is a keypad control on the wall.
Either use the gate key you received from us, or follow the instructions we gave you.
The gate will swing open, and you will follow the road down the hill, about 3/4
mile or so. At the bottom of the hill, you will pass a maintenance
building on the left, and some open grassy areas. Keep following the road,
and bear right onto WEST Jordan Way. Follow West Jordan around as it
curves to the left. The cabin is the 4th or 5th one on the right. It
is the last one in a group before the "DIP" sign, and corresponding drainage dip
in the road.
The address is 25170 West Jordan. Open the car door and breathe in the smell
of the Sugar Pines ...
The Cabin phone number is 209-586-1486. Note: AT&T phones lose cell service after Sierra
Village. Verizon (voice and text) works at the cabin, Pinecrest and most parts of Dodge Ridge.
